PRICES: Many of the Decca singles are readily available. If you go to a specialist dealer, you may pay £5. But you could easily find the same record on a market stall for £1. On the other hand, an original, 1960 copy of Sound Of Fury could cost £100 from a dealer. My guiding principle has been to suggest a price that you need not exceed for records and sleeves in NEAR MINT condition, but as with any commercial transaction, it all depends on supply and demand. CONDITION: NEAR MINT means that although the record has been used, it has has no scratches, and when played has no sounds that should not be present. LP, EP and picture covers are not torn or bent, but may be slightly scuffed. VERY GOOD means that there may be a few surface marks on the record, of which some might be slightly audible. With LPs and EPs, half the value is in the sleeve. With singles, the condition of an ordinary paper sleeve is of little importance. The reproduction ones that are widely available are perfectly acceptable.

If you are seeking deleted titles, vinyl, etc, a good starting point is Netsounds. The home page lists second-hand dealers associated with this site, and by making a search for "Billy Fury" you will get a long list of available records - some, admittedly, at stupidly high prices. There are always many items available in eBay auctions. For current items at discount prices, try Keymailorder.

If , like many people, you are tempted by advertising to cross cd101's electronic doorstep, bear in mind that not everyone has found them the most efficient of firms.

A good first buy for anyone interested in Billy's music is the superb 40th Anniversary double CD, complete with Chris Eley's excellent, highly literate sleeve notes. I have found that anything bearing Chris's name can be relied upon to be both sympathetic to Billy's memory and authoritative.
